I couldn't resist.

Ernie's Flying Pig Service is now accepting freight between Richardson's grove and Eureka. Environmentally bypassing the deadly grove

Yeah, well... does Janice know you're here? Ha!
I heard that, in these tough economic times, UPS & FedEx are merging & calling the new company FedUp. Ha! Ha!
On a serious & sincere note, my sympathies to you & your family on the passing of John. I have some fond memories of him & I know he will be missed in Laytonville & beyond.

Ross, those were the good old days. I split redwood one whole winter while collecting "rockin' chair". We split in the rain, and the wind, and the snow. We wore out three sets of tire chains in the mud getting to and from work. It was too damn muddy to get the split-stuff out. If it weren't for the rockin chair money we would have starved to death, but we had one hell of a fine payday in the spring when we finally sold our winters work. It sure made the summer go better to start out Okie rich.

You're right I'm cold-decking some blog posts for February.

Yes, John will leave a hole in our family, and he will be missed. He and Jim had a special rapport that the rest of us can only envy.

One thing to say on the good side, is he lived life Johns way.
R.I.P. Cousin John Franklin.

Thank-you for your thoughts.

Ernie, word is spreading about your unique service up here: tourism is threatening to explode as folks flock to view the spectacle! How do you plan to accomodate the number of visitors (and profit from them, of course) without that highway realignment? The river's still too low for sight-seeing tours. I recommend training some of the larger sows for passenger flights...

Hey Ernie...

Thought you'd appreciate Bryan Plumley's commentary in today's T-S, in response to a letter Ken Miller sent (and I know Rose is NOT a fan of another letter the estimable Dr. Miller sent to the NCJ, in response to my latest in THAT illustrious publication):

Happy reading!

P.S.: The comments are stupid, except for one - skip 'em.
