My kind of people!
My good friend "Eel River Ernie" sent me this photo. It's so right-up-my-alley that I just had to post it. I don't know what made Eel River Ernie think of me, but I'm glad he took the time to send it my way. He suggested that, "all we needed was someone from PETA standing there with a picket sign."
I've often said, "If you make what you're talking about clear enough, that somebody knows that you have made a mistake, then they've said it clear enough to understand.
Maybe this guy (Or maybe a girl)is a shrewd business man, and spelled it wrong to get attention. I'm betting that he just wants to start a conversation, because the wood in his truck looks like Madrone, $200 dollars is too much for a pickup load of fir, but some people would pay that much for a pick-up load of Madrone.
I'm certain that no wood would land in your yard until the price was right, no matter how you spelled it.
Thank-you Eel River Ernie, from your old friend South Fork Ernie. It's been a long time since I've used that name.

Maybe they couldn't spell "Madrone".
any idea where that pic was taken???just curious!
I think anybody that would pay $200 for a 1/4 cord of any kind of fur probably doesn't know how to spell either.
Oregon
Ernie – I sent the picture to you because, exactly like you said, “My kind of folks” and I knew you would understand the humor and irony. I took the picture on South Fortuna Blvd. yesterday afternoon. You and EKO, and sometimes Fred, are the only bloggers that I follow that I thought would “get it.” - ERE
Most often people spell incorrectly to attract other's attention. Like in the valley when you see the vegi signs misspelled. You chuckle, and sometimes you buy, but it certainly gets your attention.
Cousin
Yes, Eel River Ernie, I have seen that truck a couple of times within the past month while making my rounds in Fortuna. But, unlike signs I have seen in the teeming metropolis of Arcata, this sign was offering something for something.
Sign seen today at Henderson & Broadway, Eureka: "Will take Verbal Abuse for spare change"
Not my kind of people
South Fork Ernie, remember, it's about communicatin', right?
And Lodgepole, that ain't my cousin's truck. His is green.

i hate to say it!!but i could jump in that red FORD PICKUP,and feel right at home!!! i KNOW HOW ALL THE PEDALS OPERATE!!
Sign doesn't say what kind of fur it is so I don't know if that's a good price or not, but it makes perfect sense to me that dry fur would keep you warmer than wet fur & I believe that is the point.
we used to pay a lot less "FER" that kinda wood!!
It seems to me that I'm seeing more "Wood for Sale" trucks everywhere. A sign of hard times? A cord of madrone is about $350, these days. I use about 3 cords...$1,000 to heat the old shack every year. I have two cords in. Saving up for the third.
i have noticed the same thing, over here in the valley!more wood for sale!
Maybe they were selling hemp fur!
$200 for 1/4 cord??
it makes perfect sense to me'
dry whatever it is fur $200.
if it sounds like a duck, it probably is a duck.
Nice avitar Spy, and nice hat!
They say that the clothes make the man. I've been trying to get that hat to you for almost a year. I got it during the Old-Timers Baseball game last year.
thanks again ernie,
i got back on father's day with this by my front door. didn't know who it was from until i opened it. the best father's day present i've ever had. hope your father's day was just as swell.
Kind of like the "Coy" fish I saw for sale the other week.
Should have just said "Biggest fucking goldfish ya ever seen fer sale"
such language??? LOL!! but you got your point across!
