Okay, most people probably will have an explanation. But U.F.O. means Unidentified Flying Object, and I didn't identify it. So it’s a ufo.
Coming home from work tonight I turned off onto Blue Rock Road and I saw a very bright light in the eastern sky, moving parallel to the horizon, from south to north, at about 25degrees of elevation. I checked the time a few minutes later, and I saw it at about 5:36 PM today.
As I turned the corner I noticed a very bright white light. At first I thought it was a headlight on the hill in front of me, but as I got into the clear, I thought it might be a helicopter with a very bright light. It didn’t seem like it was moving fast enough to be a meteor. As I watched it, it started to dim and turn greenish. It started to trail orange flame balls, that winked out behind it. At that point it blinked out completely except for a slight phosfluorescent trail.
Okay, I did decide that it was something that burned up upon entering our atmosphere. So what might follow that trajectory, move that slow, and glow greenish with an orange trail???
Ernie... Might have been a bolide meteorite coming toward you so it seemed slow. I dunno, maybe a satellite reentering the atmosphere? Did you ever see the movie "Invaders From Mars" when you were a kid? Sounds like one of their ships. Gave me nightmares for years.
ReplyDeleteSome parts of an old space station were scheduled to be re-entering the atmosphere last week. What if that's what you saw?
ReplyDeleteErnie, about 1960 I saw something very strange from our house just south of town. It was probably around 9 p.m. and dark out. This thing as I call it was heading out over the mountains past the airport at a very high speed.Looked like it had 4 burners or engines in the rear and was out of sight in a matter of seconds, climbing towards the stars. My son did some research on this a few years ago.He found out that others had seen something similar to what I had seen also.Have you ever heard about this?To me, it wasn"t a jet or a airplane,it was something else!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I once saw something similar out between Fort Bragg and Irish Beach. The green glow still sticks in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI've been at a fire meeting. But now I'm back.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fairly observant person, so I see things that many other people don't see. I've seen many things in the sky that are really unique, but I've been able to come up with a logical explanation for everything. You have no idia how good that makes me feel.
I think that Indie has the best explanation. It looked like it was burning in many diferent colors, like a house fire does when it gets burned down to coals and all the different metals are giving off differnt colored flames.
ReplyDeleteIt just looked like it was many parts, and it was large and bright.
Ross, it might have been part of southern California's "Skunk Works", a top secret aircraft building plant. They flew a lot of experiments over Northern California because of the sparse population.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, that was a time of many unusual sightings.
I actually posted it here thinking that someone else must have seen it, it was very bright.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should see this...
ReplyDeleteI observed 2 *very* bright objects in the sky last night around 5:30 pm in Livermore!
There were just sitting there in the upper atmosphere near space, and not moving... I lost patience and went back in side for some coffee, and internet.
i just talked to my girlfriend and she was on her way back home from visiting a friend heading north on jack tone road near stockton and in the northwest around 530 pm she saw a light in the sky which she thought might have been a meteor or comet. she said it seemed to have landed in the field ahead of her in a northwest direction. i told her that ernie saw a light in the sky tonight and was writing about it on his blog and she said that it must have been the same light she was seeing from over 200 miles away from him. Jack Tone dead ends on 88/12/26 and she goes east to moke hill and beyond. going west takes you to stockton. she was probably about 15 miles east of stockton.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I found your site by search term "Ben Mast" + Laytonville
ReplyDeleteMy father was Jerry Ainsworth that passed away about 3 years ago..
i remember hearing about something big heading toward earth lately but i can't remember what it was. but it sounds like this thing landed between stockton and laytonville.
ReplyDeleteNow I am really curious what it could of been! but of course the media needs to stay hushed about such things.. Thank you Govt! Not!
ReplyDeleteYou saw nothing! Now please step away from this scene........
ReplyDeleteWell, a NASA astronaut did drop a backpack full of oily tools recently...
ReplyDeleteThey'll be back!
ReplyDeleteYep, of course they will be..... the question is... when?
ReplyDeleteErnie, check out this blog that talks about a bunch of sightings of fireballs in the sky over California in the month of September. The description sounds just like what you saw.
ReplyDeletehttp://transientsky.wordpress.com/2008/09/22/fireball-over-southern-california-sept-19/
The American Meteor Society has an online form for reporting sightings.

I might of mentioned this here before but sometimes missiles can put on quite a show. When we lived in Southern California we'd occasionally see missiles fired in tests from Vandenburg(?)- the one in the desert to the north- AFB. Quite the fireworks sometimes. They'd usually look to be a bit slower than meteorites.
ReplyDeleteAt least I wasn't the only one to see it. We talked about it at the fire meeting last night. Noboby there saw it, but everybody had a fire ball story.

ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteI knew your father. We both lived in L'ville for many years but I got to know him best when I worked at the pharmacy & he was helping care for Millie. He gave me a gift of one of my father's & grandfather's cancelled paychecks from when they both worked for Ben back in the 1950s. I always think of your dad as a kind & gracious man. I know he is missed in L'ville.
So many of the people who made L'ville a wonderful place for me are gone now.
Nice to see you here.
Robin and Michael, I shouldn’t be telling this story because it would embarrass Millie Mast to death if she knew that I repeated it. But, that is the advantage in being young enough to outlive everybody else.
ReplyDeleteAt a family gathering, that we had so many of back in the fifties, someone asked Millie if she had any Indian blood in her. As you know Millie was a very “proper” lady, and would never be caught with a hair out of place, or a spot on her clothes. She had very high cheek bones and was really quite pretty in her more youthful days. Loretta Lynn always reminded me of Millie in her younger days. But she definitely had Indian features, which nowadays would have been thought of as quite beautiful, but for some reason Millie wanted to distance herself from that thought. When asked, she flushed a little, and answered. “Well, I’ve been told that I might have a touch of Cherokee”, and dropped the subject.
Her brother was Roy Goforth, who was like another father to me when I was growing up in the woods, and he was my father Everett’s partner in the logging company. Roy was the typical rough gruff logger that cleaned up pretty good on the week-ends and sometimes caught the ladies eye. But he was unashamed of his Indian heritage. Upon Millie saying that “she might have a touch of Cherokee, Roy proclaimed, “Well I’ll be goddammed, I’m a quarter-blood digger Indian, and you’re my sister. Do you know something about the folks that I don’t?” Millie was purple beneath her beautiful brown skin.
And to be honest, I don't know who was telling the truth Roy or Millie.
ReplyDeleteAlso Robin, I believe that it was Michael or somebody asked on a post way back if Gay still lived there?
ernie, sometimes you tickle me to death!i still call a creek a krick and when you mentioned roy goforth said "digger" i just had to smile a little!!!i grew up with all these words too!claude branson used to call a creek a krick.
ReplyDeleteI must've missed the post about Gay, another of my favorite people. So far as I know, she is still there. I saw her son, Dennis, last summer & everyone was fine according to him.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had the newspaper there, our cartoonist, Bill Webster, who was also a volunteer fireman, did a cartoon about Millie... it involved a woman whose house was on fire scolding the fireman for not wiping their feet! She was, indeed, very much a lady in the truest sense of the word... not easy in a place like L'ville, I would think. I'm sure plenty of the rough & tumble men she employed had a good time teasing her.
o:
Gay had plans for a "Mast Museum" at one time... now that would be interesting!
isn't there a little mast museum in boomers???
ReplyDeleteRobin, hello and thanks for enlightening me a bit about my dad in the past! I remember as a teen, visiting him up on the mast property in his little cabin while he was working the green chain at the lumber mill he worked at :-) we sppent some quality dad + son time together, fishing up there on Bens lake, and soaking up some beer, and he always rolled his own smokes. I also do remember when Dennis and his wife Lori plus their kids lived in a little trailer up on Bens property. had a lot of good memories them couple summers I visited him in the late 80's! :-)
ReplyDeleteI also got to drive his white Rambler around a bit. and we did a lot of fishing also in the pond near his little shack. I even fired his 10 gauge double barrel shotgun before,.. damn that thing was so powerful! I miss my dad, and wish him the best where ever he be.
R.I.P. daddy
Luke, I am your father!

ReplyDeleteThis is the premier site for testimonies of encounters with only the most credible witnesses. I have the book and a two volume video where you can watch the witness testimony. There are many more than 20 individuals in the book. At that site there are a number of utube links to the testimonies.
If there were one book on the subject that I believe would convince any skeptic...it is "Disclosure Project".
At the Discloser Project site, there is the link to the archives recently released by the British which came up two days running on my yahoo page before the election but who pays attention these days?
For those of us believers there is an exciting ripple of hope in that Obama might open up the secrecy.
my girlfriend told me that the light she and ernie saw was reported on the sacramento tv news as a meteor but it was only about the size of a pebble hitting the earths atmosphere. where as later in the week a mountie in canada took a picture of a shooting star which they said was about the size of a golf ball. so obviously god was stuck in a sand trap down in the mojave desert and some of the pebbles flew into northern california but the ball made it onto the green in canada.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
