Take in a shower!

The perseid Meteor shower is tonite. 8/12/10 A.M. You can see meteors anytime after dark. Just look North East, and stay away from any bright lights. My wife and I used to make an annual trip to the Harris Ridge just to watch the meteors. They are sometimes gaudy and bright, and look like a flaming fire ball being tossed across the sky. The shower will be best from 2:00 A.M. 'til daylight. You should see one or two per minute. You WILL see some very exciting fireballs if you can get your lazy butt out of bed. Then tomorrow will will compare fireball sightings.

Hey, I just remembered something I heard when I was maybe 8 to 10 years old. Your Grandpa told me that he saw two meteors collide in midair.
Did he ever tell you that Ernie?

I just went outside at 9:00 PM and it was not all the way dark yet but past shootin' light, all I saw was a bat flittin' around.

At 1 p.m., tonight's NOAA forecast was for partial clouds and tomorrow night for clear skies. By 6 p.m., the forecast was for fog both nights. It's business as usual here on the coast.

As of 3:29 AM I've seen two satellites, three high flying strobe lights and not enough meteors to keep me interested. The ones I did see though were all East by Southeast from my house instead of the Northeast direction I heard here and on the radio. Maybe my Latitude has something to do with it.
46° 23.948' Lat.
It is a beautiful clear night too, lots of stars out. Oh yeah, lots of skeeters out too.

That was me, Oregon, at 3:29 AM. Forgot to sign it.

Usually can't see stuff like that in Eureka because it's too cloudy or foggy.

Darn fog!

I intended to get up at 2:00 AM to get ahead of the fog, but I slept through that. I woke up at 4:00, went outside and the twinkle was behind a fog blanlet.

You talkin' 'bout gabby haze again, and he ain't even around to defend his honor. After recovering from a horrible on-line character assassination attempt (he hated that someone would think he was me!), he ran off from the latest rest home with a young twenty-something nurse...said she was the only one who didn't use ice-water for his sponge bath.
Saw a fine meteor streak around 10:00.

My Mother, who is far too shy to post a comment here, said that when I was just a toddler we lived just south of the Laytonville High school. One very clear and sparkly night we saw a meteor shower to the west. The meteors came down like rain. I don't remember it. I probably thought that it was normal, but of course I didn't have much institutional memory at the time, being only just months old.

I dreamed that it was foggy here last night. (it Wasn't) So, I didn't get up to watch the stars. I don't know why I do that, I've done it since I was a little kid.

Mom would yell at me to "Get up". I would dream that I was getting up and getting ready for school. I was always quite surprised to find myself still in bed when mom would get annoyed with me for not getting up.

The sad part is, if you dream that you are getting up and getting dressed, when you really do get up, you have to go through the whole thing AGAIN!

Ernie, your problem is that you don't like getting dressed. Suzy loves getting dressed. That's the first thing on my mind when i wake up. What will i wear today. I take several hours getting dressed properly before attending special events like Reggae or Summer Arts. Maybe you need a new wardrobe or something ... anyway, i am blessing you with a talisman induced vision/prayer/meditation that i learned from a wise person who visited India
* * * The advise is, "do something creative with yourself".
--don't be a square Ernie, rip some holes in the knees of those bluejeans and wrap a bandanna on your head. You'll awake with a smile on your face, eager to jump into your new look.

btw, a couple of years ago some friends and I walked to the top of the ridge, with accouterments, for a good view of the meteor shower that we heard announced on the news. We waited a looooong time. It was nearly 11pm. Then finally i saw a star fall, then i saw another, then a few more, and then --every star in the sky fell!!! It was incredible, but what was even more awesome was when at midnight i turned and saw the sun coming up in the west behind king's peak. I've never been the same since... I could tell you more of what i saw and what it all means but i will spare you cuz i know you're afraid of snakes and stuff like that etc. But what was really weird was that later we found out that we were up there observing the sky too late, the "official" meteor shower was three days earlier. Go figure.

I took your wardrobe advice, I just got four rather wild shirts and a new pair of walking shoes. People will need sunglasses to just look at me.

I've never been the same since... “ I can’t even imagine you as being the same.
