Am I the only one that needs spell-check?

I've been having all kinds of computer problems lately. You probably don't know this about me, but I couldn't even type one complete sentence per hour without spell / grammar check. Okay, maybe some of you knew it, but not all... Well at least a few of you didn't know. Like Abraham Lincoln said; "You can fool some of the people all of the time". Fortunately those are the people that come to read my blog.

Well, when spell-check craps out, it makes blogging difficult. I correct one mistake after another. They say that lexdysic people can be very intelligent and good story tellers, but they usually have difficulty with spelling. For them, words just spell out differently than they sound.
Did you know that Walt Disney had dyslexia? Did you know that neither Albert Einstien or Thomas Edison could read well, or spell good? Albert Einstien could see the theory of relativity in his head, but he struggled to put it into words.

I have reinstalled "spell-check" on my computer. But the problem is in the English language. It doesn't have the words I need to use! For instance, there is the word "proclivity" which means; toward the slippery slope. There is "declivity" which means; down the slippery slope, but no "inclivity" which would mean; up the slippery slope......That’s where I spend most of my life. Why is there the word "incline" and "decline", but no "procline"? Just because I have a proclination to use words like that? The darn language monitors are always correcting me, instead of paying attention to what I am saying!!! How the heck do they expect to learn anything!!! The really great thing about "spell-check" is you can teach it new words. If It were up to the hoytie-toyties that spend their whole life correcting people, we would all just be saying "ugh" because it would be the only "correct" word to use! I just found out that there is a book out there with all my words already in it, called "The New Bush Dictionary". It seems Ol' George and I have a lot in common......It's nice to know there are still people out there that know how to talk...well I'd better go........It seems that my spell check is getting that smoky smell it got the last time it crapped out......Did you know "crap's' a word.............And strangely, “Ern” not a word.....interesting!

I learned recently that dyslexic people don't always hear separate sounds. I had always thought dyslexia was a visual matter, but I learned it has an audio component as well.

Spell check plays some really dirty tricks on some of my students who write, approximating words so randomly that spellcheck corrects them into something with an entirely different meaning. Spell check is nice and handy, but it isn't completely reliable.

I love how you communicate. I have had to learn to accept my own condition...hyspatia(there are variant spellings).
Tho I took all the hoighty toighty training and I do usually go over my posts, yet when they are posted, darned if I didn't flub something. Hyspatia!
Your wunnerful blog allows all the kids in the class to talk as equals where no one is getting graded for "errors".
I admire the effort and quality of your blog even more...use whatever makes you feel better and is easier for you.

I have no respect for someone who can only spell a word one way.

being the son of a school principal, there wasn't too many things that i could do right, so i didn't speak very much when i was young. i always thought i was going to say the wrong thing which could turn out pretty painful. when i left home for college my best friend was a black irish talking machine. i just let him do the talking. he was a great poet and got me interested in reading jack kerouac. i read all of jack's books back then and began to write like him somewhat. i found this a bit more natural. e e cummings was steve's favorite poet, so the small caps. sometimes i think they need to make a vibration check that would delete anything said in anger. i think suzy uses a sound check instead of a spell check. know where i can get one of those suz?
in the art of communicating, sometimes you run into people who have developed an ability to hear what they want to hear. so you trick them indirectly so that your truth can seep through. whatever works.

Gently correcting the grammar, spelling, and punctuation of others is how I learned to rede so gud. Wen I du to for yu, it is a labur of luve. So du not misunderstnd me. I seke not to harm or belittl yu. I seke only to help you in the kindist, gentlist way possible. Godde knows I have come a longe way down the rode of rightness where spelling and grammar and punctuation are concerned. Wud yu care to wok along the rode with me a littel ways?

my muther, perfessor of latin and english, rode me hard down that rode grown up.
creative mistakery and malicious to good grammar "faux paws" is way more fun and revenge for having to be correct too much as a child.

Well, I could probably learn to spell and write better, but it has always been something that came hard for me. The reason that I don't want the way people speak to be corrected on my blog, is that I find what people have to say to be far more interesting than the way that they say it. I’ve seen too many people in my lifetime stop telling a good story because somebody corrected their language.

Colloquial language is like poetry to me, some times it’s hard to understand, but always worth trying. If a person is speaking his own language, who are we to correct them?

groovy had an idea about liberating all the jack kerouac books from the school library. i guess they were all 1st editions as i can remember. we went up to the 3rd floor and groovy put them in his knapsack and threw them over the roof into the bushes down below. it seemed perfectly natural at the time. sort of exciting for me as i wasn't used to being a revolutionary. i loved reading them all. when i was working on the peach ranch, there was this big white dude named lloyd russell. 2 first names who was living in the migrant housing with the mexicans. russell just wanted to prop up peach trees and drink bud on the peach ranch. i think he dropped out of college to do that. he seemed a worthy recipient. i never got them back.
he was working in a tomato cannery over in hollister, last i heard. of course, in some countries stealing is a crime, but in this country we just saved them the trouble of burning them.
